INSTALLATION OF SIDING

  • Lay a leveled chalk line for each layer of clapboard (at the width of exposure) on the wall before you begin the installation.
  • Begin from the top and work down the wall wedging each new clapboard into the one above for a tight fit.
  • Each clapboard should overlap 1 1/2 inches to maximize stability of the clapboards.
  • Nail through both layers of clapboard with a small shank 5 or 6 penny large head galvanized nail.
  • Nail each course to the studs and at the joints.
  • Paint or stain can be done prior to installation or after. Use proper paint or stain as recommended by your local paint dealer.
  • Please send for more information on prestaining and other siding and wood products that we offer.
  • Some patterns allow for greater dimensional change than others. Patterns such as bevel siding and channel rustic have the capability of greater joint movement than patterns such a tongue and groove.
  • Apply siding over building paper.
